They’re All About You Walking down the high street and I run into you. You take the low road; So, what else is new? You ask a favor; Could I write a song about you? Don’t you realize? They’re all about you. They’re all about you I need a new muse, free from sins of omission I’ll sing her love songs and you won’t get to listen. I’ll change the lyrics, obscure a place name or two, So she won’t realize, they’re all about you. They’re all about you I can’t say I’ve been thinking about you all along, So, I’ll just play and hide my feelings in my song. And it’s ok, if she is only playing along I just pray that I can right all my wrongs. They’re all about you

The LA River’s a concrete scar It only flows in flood Hollywood’s just a boulevard And Del Rey runs with blood. Sunset strip shuts down at dawn Then the homeless their place Like the hopeful who don’t yet know They’re tomorrow’s forgotten face Show me Won’t you show me What it means to me Dreams crash on these gilded shores And the promises all break This towns sells lies to all the masses Only gold stars for the great Show me Won’t you show me What it means to me You can smell the orange groves they paved to make these movie lots And taste the tears of all the kids that come out west to show the movies what they got. Watching sunset going down On those who’ve paid the cost Only some will get a spin And everyone else is lost The angel’s shore has always called To where the ocean never rests This town devours what it wants then it spits out all the rest. Show me Won’t you show me What it means to me You can smell the orange groves they paved to make these movie lots And taste the tears of all the kids that come out west to show the movies what they got. Show me Won’t you show me What it means to me

Watch Me Bleed There was a time when you were always on my side You weren’t so terrified by the likes of me. Now that I’ve lost my mind; now that I’m crippled up inside. Can’t you just open me up and watch me bleed. Open me up and watch me bleed Take your time, as much as you need. Open me up but don’t ever say that you believed in me. I tried. I tried to be a better man most of the time. But I always disappoint you and me. Not that I hate my crimes now that I’m running far behind. Won’t you just open me up and watch me bleed Open me up and watch me bleed Take your time, as much as you need. Open me up but don’t ever say that you believed in me.

Uncle Festus, give me what I need Uncle Festus, be my relief Uncle Festus, save me a piece. Give me your grease.

And Rescue Me I’m feeling drunk but hungover Since you left me here in Dover You took my keys and my ride Left me a slice of pride You said I never loved you And I can’t say if I tried Won’t someone rescue me from myself this time I’ve gone over-board again, running low on peace of mind Come back for me Don’t believe what your lying eyes see And rescue me I’m getting old and so much colder A Gallic chill from your shoulder Our only chance to survive Is tragically far behind I’ll take the last boat to Calais Feeling numb and maligned Won’t someone rescue me from myself this time I’ve gone over-board again, running low on peace of mind. Come back for me Don’t believe what your lying eyes see And rescue me

(And I Say) I Think it’s Okay You can see whatever you need To make believe that everything seems Like a dream and atoned. And I say, “I think it’s okay” but I don’t. Then you say, that you’ll stay but we both know that you won’t. I’m naïve whenever you boast, That you can’t conceive how you made the most, Of my sick leave that you owned. And I say, “I think it’s okay” but I don’t. Then you say, that you’ll stay but we both know that you won’t. Tell me what I need to know. Try the truth even as you forgo, Accuracy and facts that will kill me. I’m skeptical of your story; you thrill me But that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to hear anymore. And I say, “I think it’s okay” but I don’t. Then you say, that you’ll stay but we both know that you won’t.

Take down ol’ glory and tell me a story Tell the truth or a lie I don’t care. Cause we once was a land of honest men But now I can’t breathe the air. Take down ol’ glory, Till truth is mandatory. Take it down and then take a knee. The rich man divides us, we’ll join or we’ll die thus And tell them don’t tread on me. He’s crazy for power, got his name on a tower. And he’s madder than King George III He lies through his teeth every time that he speaks Fox News hangs on his every word. Take down ol’ glory, Till truth is mandatory. Take it down and then take a knee. The rich man divides us, we’ll join or we’ll die thus And tell them don’t tread on me. This is supposed to be the land of the free. Goddamn it, I cannot breathe.

I Was Wrong 02:50
I Was Wrong I thought that you loved me, just because you told me that you did. And when things got ugly, I bought it when you said we’d start again. I was wrong. Damn right, I was wrong. I was wrong along. I was wrong. The guy who narrates my life spins yarns of half-truths and mortal sins. So I feast on damnation and prime the pump to take in on the chin. I was wrong. I was wrong when I thought you could show me the way there. I assumed that you knew love was not just a game but you’d play fair. I was wrong. I suppose I could’ve, should’ve seen through all the angles of your plan. But your ways and means and wiles did a job on my attention span. I was wrong.

The Junkyard Tornadoes are:
Jake Frederick: guitar, mandolin, harmonica, vocals
Rob Neilson: guitar, bass, percussion, piano, horns, vocals
Tony Conrad: our rhythm section

Engineered by Rob Neilson
Produced by The Finbros
All songs written by Rob Neilson & Jake Frederick

Special thanks to Corey Arndt and Ardent Guitars; if any of the guitars are in tune at any point it’s his fault. A nod to Harmony Pizza. This work might not have been possible without the support of Lawrence University and the Covid-19 pseudo-sabbaticals. Spiritual guidance provided by Clarence Oddbody. The Junkyard Tornadoes don’t always play custom built guitars but when they do it’s a Frederick.

As always, this album is dedicated to the Kates: They’re all about you.
